It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of MRN board member and dear friend Phil Bresee. Phil passed away on February 18, 2023, after a brief battle with cancer. Our sympathies go out to his wife Leslie and his children Maxwell and Nora. Read full obituary.

A consummate volunteer, Phil has been dedicated to MRN's mission since its inception in 1992. He was a member of the board in 2001 and was elected president in 2003 before moving to Florida where he was employed as the recycling program manager for Broward County.

Phil returned to MRN in 2019 serving on the board as a director, secretary and, most recently, treasurer. In addition to his roles on the BOD, he has served on the MRN/SWANA Mid-Atlantic Annual Conference Planning Committee and the Legislative Committee, as well as presented at several past conferences. MRN was not the only industry association to benefit from Phil's dedication and leadership. Throughout his career, he also participated in numerous state and national associations including SWANA and the National Recycling Coalition.

Phil’s career spanned 30+ years working in the public sector where he developed and directed county and city recycling and solid waste management programs. He was most recently a senior consultant with MSW Consultants (read bio). Phil will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

For those interested, a Celebration of Life Party will be held Sunday, February 26, at Elmwood Farm, from 2-6 pm.

*In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Doey's House, 11370 Caring Pathway Lane, Hagerstown, MD 21742.
